Wikis > Glossary > Post-Minimalism

A style of composition that harnesses the idea of simplicity, much like minimalism itself. This style can be paired with many different aesthetics, yet is often associated with a feeling of stasis and/or atmospheric ambiguity.  Unlike minimalism, post-minimalism utilizes compositional devices, musical architecture, orchestration, and share many other characteristics with other 20th-century styles. Post-minimalist composers include, Steve Reich, Phillip Glass, La Monte Young, John Adams, and Arvo Pärt.
