Non-Isochronous Meter

Also known as complex or additive meters, non-isochronous meters are featured mostly in non-western music, and are based on cycles of prime numbers (e.g 7 & 11), or  uneven divisions of non prime numbers (e.g. 9 divided 2+2+2+3).

  1. For some reason, it seems that this platform can’t deal with endnote format. I deleted the troublesome links the endnote created. The citation provided should give specific page numbers since it refers to a section within a larger work.
