Swing

Wikis > Glossary > Swing

A swung rhythm is a rhythm where each beat is divided into two parts, and the first part becomes longer and more accented than the second part. Performers of swing play notes that are equally notated with unequal durations, and repeat the unequal patterns continuously. Swing is also used to describe a sense of rhythmic feel often found in Jazz music. Swing is also a genre of music in itself.
