Sensorimotor synchronization

Wikis > Glossary > Sensorimotor synchronization

Sensorimotor synchronization (SMS) is defined as the coordination of rhythmic action with rhythmic event sequence(s). This phenomenon is most conspicuously observed in music performance and dance. In experiments in the laboratory setting, SMS is most often studied using tasks involving finger tapping to sequence(s) of auditory stimuli.
