Period Correction

Wikis > Glossary > Period Correction

Period correction is one of the two proposed models of sensorimotor synchronization (the other being phase correction). It is when the listener adjusts the “interval of the timekeeper or period of oscillator” but does not change the phase (Repp 2006, 59). If you can imagine a graph of a sine wave, imagine squeezing the curves to become closer together (making the first derivative of the line greater between maximums and minimums) or pulling them farther apart (making the first derivative of the line smaller between maximums and minimums).
