Groove

Wikis > Glossary > Groove

Groove is commonly described as the urge to move in response to music, combined with the positive affect associated with the coupling of sensory and motor processes while engaging with music (referred to as sensorimotor coupling) in a seemingly effortless way. (Janata, Tomic, & Haberman, 2011). Groove can be thought of as a heightened sense of entrainment if entrainment is defined in Justin London’s terms as, synchronization of our attention to a rhythm (London, 2012).
